I don't fully subscribe to BRDs, but our Product Managers write pitches that give the context of why we're doing the work, the metrics we hope to move, how those connect to the bigger picture, and any hard requirements that will need to go into the MVP. From there the engineers get to determine the how. It's amazing how much the engineering team improves when they have the right level of clarity in what is being asked for an why it's important to the company. Definitely echo your thoughts Isaac!
